Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month? Breast cancer is the most common cancer and affects about 1 in 8 U.S. women. This does not include the countless amount of family and friends who are also affected by it. Breast cancer infiltrates many lives, and here at Beauty Bakerie, we believe in spreading the word and contributing to the fight to help eradicate this disease.
We believe in being “better not bitter.” What this means, is taking life’s lemons and turning them into lemonade. Our founder and CEO, Cashmere Nicole, gravitated to this quote, and it became her life motto when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 26. Although life handed Cashmere the lemon of breast cancer, she believed there was no other option than to turn it into lemonade. She used this lemon to go after her passion in life and build a legacy for her daughter. With a renewed sense of determination, in 2011 Cashmere worked a full-time job by day and created her Bakerie at night. Now in 2016, she has built herself a successful cosmetics line that is highly favored and known for being smudge-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.
We have been blessed to grow with our Sweeties over the last 6 years and have noticed the stories that they’ve shared with us regarding their personal breast cancer story or that of a loved one. Because our Sweeties are at the center of our hearts, we will be bringing one of YOUR stories to light this October by featuring it on our Ice Cream Social Blog. We invite you to share your story with us in the comments! We will be selecting one Sweetie to interview on October 17th!
In addition, we encourage you to subscribe to our Neapolitan Newsletter so that you are the first to know all of our special updates for the month of October! Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @beautybakeriemakeup. We’d like to see and share your looks wearing any pink Beauty Bakerie products during Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Don’t forget to tag us as well, and use our official hashtag #beautybakerie.
When life hands you bitter lemons, add some sugar and watch your perspective change. While the lemon of breast cancer is still around, we can continue to work together for a cure, and make this bitter situation better!
